At the end of summer, Scott McNeely, who has served as the summer camp director since 2012 and was promoted to director of operations last fall, announced that we will welcome Frank Townsend as the new summer camp director this fall. Scott will continue to work with Frank as his supervisor to ensure the same high-quality camp program families have come to expect. We are thrilled that Frank has accepted this new challenge and know that Camp Gravatt will continue to grow under his leadership.
Frank began as a summer camper at Camp Gravatt in 2004. He served on summer camp staff as a counselor in 2011-13, technology director in 2013-15, and assistant director in 2016. After completing his bachelor's degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management at Clemson University in 2015, Frank served as the administration intern at Gravatt. HIs voice will be familiar to many of the parents who called our office regarding summer camp registration.
Frank's favorite memories as a Camp Gravatt staffer include countless hours playing soccer in the field with campers and making connections with as many of them as possible. He credits much of his own growth to his time spent at Gravatt as a camper and on staff. Frank says, "I'm very excited for the future of Camp Gravatt. I have high hopes and ambitions for the summers to come and plan to keep the tradition of Camp Gravatt going strong."
About Frank, Scott McNeely says, "I've watched Frank grow as a leader over the past several years. I have confidence in his ability to lead an amazing summer camp program."
Frank begins in his new role on September 1, 2016.
