A reflection of my year as an intern- Jessica Taylor

This time last year, I didn't know what I was doing with my life. A few months earlier, I had nixed the plan of grad school, so I was in search for a job. Then one morning in August, my older sister texted me to tell me that Gravatt was hiring interns. At first, I was hesitant. I didn't want to be an intern, I wanted a "real job". But after many discussions with different people and looking at the positions, I applied. And I am so glad I did. After months of searching, I finally had a title, Marketing Intern at Gravatt Camp and Conference Center.

This internship changed my life. I have a path and a direction that I had never really thought about before. I didn't major in Marketing. But here I am, and I love it. Creating posts and print materials that I know others will see and enjoy is an incredible thing that I love doing. I've also gained an incredible work family, one that will always be hard to beat. I am so thankful for their continued support and love, and I know that wherever I am, I can always count on them. I could go on and on about how much this internship meant to me and how appreciative I am for this program at Gravatt. What started off as a whim of an opportunity has transformed into a passion.

I will forever be grateful for the opportunities that Gravatt has given me. If it was not for Gravatt, I wouldn't be where I am today. I wouldn't have the skills and confidence to continue on this path. Gravatt will always be a part of me, no matter the distance. I don't like to call them goodbyes, I'm more a fan of see you later. Because that's what it is. I'll see Gravatt again, I'm sure of it.
