Sliding into Summer 2019

“This thing is so good that I’ll finish my day of work, and drive here to do it before I go home!” remarked Father Dorian Del Priore, Gravatt Board Member and Canon for Mission and Evangelism at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Saturday, June 1, marked the official opening of the Water Moccasin, the newest addition to the Camp Gravatt summer program. Because of the generosity exhibited by Shalom Circle Members, Aiken Electric Cooperative, and Ace Pole Company, this dream was made a reality.

Shalom Circle Members from near and far gathered during Family Camp 2019 to celebrate the much-anticipated added element. The Waterslide Extravaganza was a resounding success with staff, former staff alumni, campers, and donors in attendance. The event included dinner, luau, s’mores, campfire skits and songs, and of course, a LOT of sliding, all wrapped up with a meaningful Shalom Circle.

There are no words to adequately explain what it means to be surrounded by as much love as the Shalom Circle put forth this year to make the waterslide a reality, and the power of this community has been made abundantly clear. With the Gravatt Family surrounding this ministry, what CAN’T be done?! Big things are coming for Gravatt Camp and Conference Center, and we look forward to watching generations of Gravatt campers reap the benefits of the legacy left by our Shalom Circle 2018-2019.

When you visit Gravatt this summer, be sure to check out the newest attraction and tell us what you think, and get excited for next year's project: a new zipline AND an all-new high ropes element!
