  • Camp Gravatt

Open to all ages from infant to senior citizen, Family Camp provides an opportunity for campers to experience a sample of camp life with a trusted adult by their side. But it's more than that! Rogation Service

Join us as we bless our farm!

The Rogation service will be held on June 3rd, in conjunction with the Volunteer Work Day, and will begin at 4pm in the Outdoor Chapel. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for a farm tour, led by Thomas Coleman. Father Scotty Brock will officiate the service. At the end of the service/tour, everyone is invited to the luau (cook-out at the waterfront with swimming).

There will also be an opportunity to purchase CSA shares. For more information on Gravatt's CSA, click here

A Brief History of Rogation Days
The word “rogation” is from the Latin rogare, “to ask.” Historically, the Rogation Days (the three days before Ascension Day) were a period of fasting and abstinence, beseeching God’s blessing on the crops for a bountiful harvest. In England they were associated with the blessing of the fields at planting. The vicar "beat the bounds" of the parish, processing around the fields reciting psalms and the litany. In the United States they have been associated with rural life and with agriculture and fishing.
