Many of these same guests that frequent Gravatt’s conference facilities throughout the year find themselves back for Gravatt’s bi-annual Big Delicious Event, where Gravatt is proud to partner with the staff from Juniper of Ridge Spring to offer an evening of culinary enjoyment.

Gravatt has been creating leaders through summer camp programming for 70 YEARS, and the summer of 2018 was no different.

Summer’s not even over, and retreat season at Gravatt is already well underway.

Of all the reasons we hear about why kids aren’t ready for camp, the one we hear the most is, “They’ve just never done it before. They won’t know anyone,” and honestly, this IS the scariest part of camp.

“Gravatt is the place where we discover our best selves,” is a sentiment shared to summer staff by Executive Director Scott McNeely. This phrase adequately portrays the experiences of the thousands of campers served at Camp Gravatt over the 69 years of summer camp ministry, not to mention the experiences of the 37 staff who spent this week preparing for a summer of counseling youth.

“I spent Saturday night in heaven on earth,” –this is a direct quote in response to Gravatt’s first-ever Under the Tent event at Gravatt, May 5, 2018. Hundreds of Gravatt staff, volunteers, friends, and campers spent the evening under the stars, enjoying the community and genuine atmosphere of their favorite place.

Over the Christmas holiday, the cottages received new carpet, paint, beds, and furnishings, and Gravatt has recently started the process of renovating the exterior of the buildings with new roofs and soon to be screened in porches.

Narball is a Gravatt-born tradition, created by former staff for the enjoyment of campers throughout their time at camp. The activity has become so popular that we're holding a Charity Narball Tournament to benefit Reach Out Camp, a camp session specifically for children of incarcerated parents.

We Love Gravatt Week is ALMOST HERE! February 11, is the perfect time for your parish to lift up the value of summer camp at Gravatt. We don’t want you to forget to include Gravatt in your scheduling, which is why we want you to know that “We Love Gravatt” Sunday is February 11, 2018! Children need the faith formation and leadership development found at Gravatt now more than ever. Gravatt has been serving youth since 1949, a place where teams are built, leadership skills are developed, communities are formed, and faith is experienced.

On January 13, 2018, Gravatt hosted its annual Friends of Gravatt Oyster Roast. This is a time for Gravatt Friends to gather for staff to say ‘thanks’ to the people who support Gravatt daily through, time, talents, prayers, donation dollars, and so much more.

A number of different places and programs will tell you that they specialize in leadership development, but Camp Gravatt will show you that development before your very eyes. Gravatt Camp and Conference Center is an Episcopal camp and conference center that offers respite from the tumultuous world to children and adults throughout the year, but summer camp is something different. Summer camp at Camp Gravatt is a place where children come to be challenged with something new, while being loved and accepted exactly as they are.

August 21, 2017, will long be remembered as a day of majesty, fellowship, food, and fun among the 917 people that gathered at Gravatt Camp and Conference Center, partnering with the USC Aiken Ruth Patrick Science Center, to witness the 2017 solar eclipse.
